Serge’s Wigs –
Our Story

Serge's Wigs in Las Vegas, NV has a wonderful and rich story to tell.

Steve Serge was a first generation American. His mother was born in Wales and his father was born in Sicily. Steven was a graduate of West Scranton High and then the Lackawanna Beauty School where he received his cosmetology license. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

In the early 1960’s Steve opened his first Beauty Salon in North Scranton, PA. He later moved the Salon into the famous Hotel Jermyn and founded “Serge’s European Wigs” for the women’s wig market business in Scranton. He grew his business into a 22 store chain that included the historic Macy’s in New York City and Bamberger’s in Philadelphia.

Steve loved coming to Las Vegas and enjoyed the VEGAS vibe. A short time later he decided to move to Las Vegas. He packed up as many wigs and Styrofoam heads that would fit in his car. Overall, 36 hour, 2400 mile drive to Las Vegas all he could hear was those Styrofoam heads squeaking.

It was then, in 1974 that he opened “Serge’s Showgirl Wigs” in the Historic Commercial Center on East Sahara. The store stayed and expanded within Commercial Center over the next 38 years. The first store was very small with a handmade sign outside. The store had old shag carpet and linoleum flooring, mix-matched shelving and 2x4’s across the top of the aisles that had hair pieces hanging from them. You had to duck under to pass through. It was not too pretty.

Later Steve married Susan and together they remodeled the store. As the business grew, they moved the store across the parking lot to an empty “White Cross” drug store with over 7,000 square feet. They filled it with wigs and made the store beautiful.

Steve was a loving and compassionate man who became involved with the American Cancer Society and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. He donated wigs to both organizations. He was also supportive of the “Make a Wish Foundation”.

Serge’s Showgirl Wigs

“Where the Stars and Showgirls buy their wigs”

That was his Logo. Movie Stars and Showgirls were and still are repeat customers. Some of their photos still hang in the store today on the Celebrity Wall.

Many wig stores have come and gone over the nearly 50 years Serge’s Wigs has been serving Las Vegas. But Serge’s is still the number one highest quality Wig Store in the U.S.A. says their customers from all over the world.

After the Covid Pandemic and during this recovering economy, the store had to downsize. But we are still the best place in the US to buy a wig. The store continues to have a vast selection of wigs and colors for customers to choose from. So please stop in and check out the store. And as always…“Welcome to Serge’s Wigs”.
